On May 10th, Dave Beardsley, our ever-present 'angel' and good friend from the Rocking Roosters, graciously hosted the Square Bears at his apple orchard and spirits distillery in Shelton, CT. He, and his son Dan, shared their knowledge of apple growing and 'spirits' production while touring their delightful facility.
It was a great adventure and a charming way to spend an afternoon.
Thank you, Dave!!
Hi Bears, Cubs and Friends,
On Friday evening, May 2, 2025, our gang of (11) bear-ear adorned raiders captured a Rocking Rosters travel banner to add to our small, but growing, stash of 'booty'. All were welcome with the good will and friendship one has come to cherish in the square dancing community.
Once again the NESRDC organizers provided a daring, diverse, delightful program of events for dancers of all-levels.
Special events included:
Fun was had by all!
Bears, Cubs and Friends,
April 12, 2025, (13) bear 'raiders' captured a 'Friendly Squares' travel banner... our 'first'. We marched in, seized the banner, and sang our "Banner Raiding" song - which was received with great enthusiasm! (lyrics below). What fun it was!! Thanks to all of you for making it asuccess
We’ve got some Bear Necessities.
Some simple Bear Necessities.
Your banner’s coming home with us tonight.
It is a Bear necessity. An urgent Bear necessity.
It surely will be bringing us delight.

We’ll take it back now. Right to our hall.
And there we’ll hang it, to be seen by all!
Yes, we’ll keep it in our care.
While you fret and feel despair.
Until you come and get it back,
with your own ’rescue’ square.
We’ve got some Bear Necessities.
Some simple Bear Necessities.
Your banner is the one we want the most!!
Yes, it’s a Bear Necessity. A truly Bear Necessity.
It’s one we’ll take back home with us and boast.

Our class of 2024 graduation was a memorable evening of pleasant surprises, including an original song (lyrics by the Class of 2024, music by Rodgers & Hammerstein... 'My Favorite Things' ); a heartfelt , articulately-worded , plaque presented by the Class to Ron & Jan; and recognition of our 'unofficial' mascot, BRUNO, with a custom-made Square Bears bandana.
The Square Bears had a blast at the recent Convention:
Can't wait until next year!
